Obituary of Jack D Romero

It’s with great sadness and heavy heart to announce the passing of Jack D. Romero, known as “General Jack”. He passed at home on November 5, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Santa Barbara, attended SBHS, and was a dedicated DON’S fan. ONCE A DON, ALWAYS A DON. Jack is survived by his wife Marie Romero of 54 years. Daughters Tammy Vargas (joe Vargas), Elizabeth Romero (Jose Guerra), grandkids Amber Verduzco (Juan Verduzco), Briana Vargas (Edgar Quirino), Daniel Vega, and Adriana Vega.

Jack’s family was involved in Native Sons and Native Daughters. Jack was a Presidio Soldier with Soldado de Los Soldados de Presidio of Santa Barbara for many years.

He was quite the jokester at family gatherings and loved blowing his whistle on the dance floor. He loved making people laugh. We never knew if he was joking or serious. The Kind of Jokesters will be truly missed. Services will be November 30th, 202 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 1PM. Wear a mask and social distance.
