Our ADL family will miss Bob dearly. His and Leah's support helped establish our local office, nourish our local presence, and solidify our future. I so appreciated his personal expressions of encouragement and support for my own involvement. We will cherish our memories of Bob! With appreciation and admiration, Dan Meisel.

Words can’t express the love you gave, Dad. But it’s there in your smile. In your spirit. And grew with each passing year. And the ripples of that love wash over all who have been blessed to have the gift that is you... in their lives. You may not be able to pick your parents, but if you could, you’d be my first pick of the draft every time. I love you and miss you beyond comprehension.
Love Gregg

Barbara and I have known Bob since he started dating my sister, Leah 65 years ago at the University of Wisconsin, We were married 2 weeks apart in 1958. Barbara and I were so pleased when Leah and Bob and their family moved to San Diego in 1970. Lee and Lou Temkin, Bob's parents and my father, Isadore and Ann moved to San Diego shortly thereafter.
We saw our children, Deborah, David and Danny grow up with their cousins, Jill, Wendi and Gregg.
We shared MANY HAPPY OCCASIONS together with Leah and Bob, our children and our parents.
Bob, we shall miss you. Barbara & Norman

Bob and Leah hosted my late husband, Jerry, and my engagement party forty years ago. Bob was already Jerry's special business and social friend. He and Leah quickly became one of our favorite couples. Through the years we have shared family events, travel and business. I will miss Bob greatly and I look forward to continue sharing life with Leah.
Sad to lose a good friend.
Love, Marge

Bob, Your kind, caring, thoughtful, and generous nature was enjoyed and loved by so many. Your wicked sense of humor always brought a smile and even a snicker or two sometimes to all around you. Your love and care for Leah and your family, oh can’t forget Patches was beyond measure... so genuine and tender, a great example for us all. Steve appreciated and enjoyed our many lunches together at Louies, Ca Dario, and the Santa Barbara Club. We will always treasure the many holiday dinners shared in your beautiful home. When Covid hit we still made it a priority to get together with you and Leah eating outdoors at your home or ours. Your commitment to our community was broad and you definitely made a positive difference in Santa Barbara in many ways. Please know we will be here for Leah in any way we can. We love you and will miss you. Thanks for being our sweet friend.

Uncle Bob always had a smile on his face and a warm hug to greet you! I loved seeing he and Aunt Leah at any family gathering; didn't matter if we stayed in sunny California or met up in colder Chicago. He taught me the phrase "one of the Out-Laws..." meaning you married into the family. I use it all the time with my husband's family(!). They were always very loving to all of us. I feel my life is better having known him.
You will be greatly missed, Uncle Bob
Love always,
Michelle (Katz) Cruz & family

Elayne and I knew Bob for too short a time. I will miss him immensely. A few days after meeting Bob and Leah, we came to the realization we could have been brothers. This image shows we also could have been waiters!!

Bob was my Dad, Jerry Katleman’s best friend, though I have a feeling many, many people feel that way towards Bob. Bob has always been like family and I will truly miss him. At my dad’s funeral he gave the most beautiful tribute and said that he had put his head down on his desk and cried when he heard my father died. I was so glad my son was there to hear that. Bob was such a wonderful roll model, a successful businessman and a true mensch who was not afraid to show his emotions.
Like my dad, Bob loved cars. When I was buying a used Audi, I asked my dad to help me negotiate with the dealer. He said that I should really call Bob because he was the best negotiator he knew. Sure enough, Bob did not disappoint. He asked me to get the VIN number and proceeded to give me the price range, a strategy and even an entire script. If I had asked, I’m sure he would have gotten on a plane to New York and negotiated himself. I followed Bob’s script to a tee, and the dealer didn’t know what hit him. In the end, I saved many thousands of dollars and named the Audi Bob Temkin.

Paka and grandma traveled all the way up to the great white north for my graduation. After attending, they set off on a cruise from Quebec to New England. In true fashion, they befriended the cruise rabbi and his wife, who by pure coincidence turned out to be one of my best friend’s grandparents.

Bob walked into my life in 1956. He was my sister Leah’s blind date. As they left for their date, Bob was given a huge thumbs up by Leah’s very critical 4 sisters (our brother wasn’t home). Over the years we have shared so many wonderful memories. Until Covid there wasn’t a year that went by that we weren’t together. My husband Harold and I have taken some gorgeous trips with Leah and Bob. Here are some pictures from our last trip together-2014 in South Africa. Bob, we have always loved you and will never forget you. Roberta and Harold.

Bob was my friend, and I’m proud of that. He was a man of substance. Moral and intellectual substance. We had lunch every couple of weeks for years and years. Our discussions ranged over every subject imaginable.
And we laughed a lot. One of Bob’s best virtues was that he couldn’t remember my jokes. What a blessing.
I think he knew as much about my kids as I did and I suspect I knew his too. We talked family, politics, literature, health, business and innumerable other subjects. We shared joy and we commiserated.
Bob taught me a new level of generosity. Willian Blake said good must be done in particulars.
We were having lunch at Harry’s one day, as we often did. It was right after the Iraq War. Three young soldiers came in.
I didn’t pay any attention. Bob interrupted our conversation and called over our waitress. He told her to bring him their check. And not to tell them who was paying.
He just wanted to show his appreciation. It startled me. I wish I had thought of it. After that, I often did.
I will miss him. I loved the guy. We often parted with me telling him to give Sandy and Leah a kiss, not necessarily in that order. Leah, I guess you will now be the one to kiss Sandy for me. Darn.

Troi and I are stunned!
Bob and Leah were the best neighbors we could have wished for during our time in Santa Barbara. More than neighbors, Bob was my friend. We shared many enjoyable times watching his beloved Packers at his home or mine. We moaned about the state of the world and fashioned solutions to most of the world’s problems. During our 7 years as neighbors, Troi and I learned never to not take Bob’s advice on day to day issues. That started when we met Bob at the top of his driveway when he told us, “buy the house”.
I am tearing up as I write this note!
We always thought of Bob and Leah as special friends even though we are currently physically apart. Now the intensity of feelings towards Bob are strongly painful in his passing but we will never be without the truly special memories of Bob. Those memories will be with us the rest of our lives.
What a loss...
Bo and Troi Kite
