Dear Don, I'd rather write this directly to you and maybe I should have at one time or another so here goes. I very much hope you know how much you mattered to me all through the years. You are a very rare man I was blessed to know, someone who always had kind and uplifting words to say that meant a lot to me and I carried them throughout my life encouraged by you. You know how much I loved my Dad and you are the only other man I know that could possibly be considered a 2nd Dad and that's saying a lot. So, back to you...I had so much fun camping with you and your family, going to the beach, riding in your Sprite whenever possible, or just watching TV with you. All was always well when you were around. Of course, during TV hours, I would get into something to tease you and laugh uncontrollably rolling around the floor (like moving the piggy back plant (you said looked like it came from Mars) in the hallway, then in front of your bedroom door, to the couch, so you would think it was watching you.
My eyes are tearing, my heart is full and I promise I will stay encouraged by you all the way through my days.
Love you lots! Tell Barbara I said hello and I love her too.

Don Warner was my first cousins husband. He was apart of my life since I was nine years old,I wrote him letters when he was overseas during WW2. He sent me a picture of him in his uniform.I loved him and his friends. Now my last relative from that time is gone. Ill miss knowing hes not in Santa Barbara anymore. Last time i saw him he and son Scott came to the mountains where

Donald Lynn Warner was my Uncle (really a 2nd cousin by Marriage to my 2nd cousin, Barbara), but due to our age difference, my sister and I thought of him as our Uncle/Father Figure. He represented to both of us of how a good man should be.
Due to life and of course Covid, it's been over a year since we last saw him. He waved good bye to us from his back porch as we backed out of the driveway and I sensed sadness in his expression and thought I saw him tear up a bit. I thought, "he's acting as if this is the last time we'll see each other, but we'll of course be back for a visit!" But perhaps Don sensed that wouldn't be the case.
Sometimes people say that the world is little less bright when someone they love passes on. That is certainly the case with the passing of our Beloved Don. The world has dimmed without his light shining on us
