Margaret Chiladoux

Obituary of Margaret Chiladoux

Margaret “Peg” Chiladoux passed away peacefully December 2022 at the age of 95. She was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to Stella Lambert and William Akens. Peg was a kindergarten teacher for over 25 years within Fresno County Schools, teaching at Westside, Houghton-Kearney and Slater elementary schools. She loved interacting and teaching small children. In 1964 she married the love of her life Nadan B. Chiladoux, an artist and art teacher at Clovis High School. Theirs was an interesting and full life together, traveling and exploring life as they went. Peg was always a force-of-nature kind of woman, tough and resilient and able to handle nearly anything that came along. She was happiest surrounded by and entertaining her large west coast extended family and her legions of close friends. She will be mourned and missed by many. She is survived by her two children Laura Livingston and Cecil Livingston, her sister Reka Akens Ely, and a very large extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Nadan and five siblings: William (Harry) Akens, Mary Akens Rutherford, Carl Akens, Churchill Akens Steele, and Hershel Akens. A small memorial service will be conducted in Morro Bay during the summer 2023. Her ashes will be scattered off the coast of Morro Bay and Morro Rock.
