Pearl Hatch

Obituary of Pearl E. Hatch

Pearl Hatch passed away on October 22. She was born in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, married her high school sweetheart, Lozelle Hatch and stayed happily married for sixty-eight years. They moved with their first daughter, Carmen, to California in 1940. Their other two children, Libby and Ruthie, were born in Southern California. Pearl taught nursery school at Parents and Children's preschool in La Canada for 27 years. She accomplished her dream of earning her Early Childhood Education degree, at the University of Redlands in 1974, once her girls had grown up. In 1984 they moved to Carpinteria and built a retirement home. Pearl was active in the Carpinteria community church, strong in her faith and powerful in her prayers. She was an active member of the P.E.O. Sorority. Pearl will be remembered for her sweetness, wit and mischief. She kept her friends and family laughing. She liked to dress-up for Halloween. She was a strong supporter of her daughter's creative, educational and business goals. She was neat and lady-like in her dress and in her later years loved to wear red. Pearl was the last surviving member of her family of six siblings and three step-siblings. Her husband, Lozelle, predeceased her by ten years. She is survived by her daughters; Carmen Canfield, Libby (Lanny) Lafferty, and Ruth Rahimi. She was much loved by her grandchildren, Peter(Cindy) Vincent, Tom (Lucia) Vincent, Ruthie (Brent) Palmatier, Kevin (Cris) Lafferty and Tina (Alan) Di Cicco and great grandchildren Amber(Ryan) Olsen, Jorell (Tricia) Vincent, Josh Vincent, Anna Brown, Heather (Jake) Berryman, Tyler Lund, Brandon Palmatier, Sofia Vincent, Camilla Vincent, Olivia Lafferty, and Gabriela Lafferty, Julia Di Cicco and Natalie Di Cicco. Pearl is also survived by seven great, great grandchildren. Pearl moved to Maravilla, a beautiful assisted living facility, in Santa Barbara in 2006.
