Tomas Agarano

Obituary of Tomas Agarano

On Tuesday, October 16, 2012, our loving, kind husband, father, brother, and friend Tomas Agarano unexpectedly passed away. Tom lived a full life and it was a life of happiness. He fully embraced each day and it can be said that he lived a life with no regrets. Among the things that he enjoyed was going to movies, garage sales, dinners, and engaging in what often became lifelong friendships. His warm smile came naturally. Tom was a man of deep, abiding faith. A Jehovah's Witness since his youth, Tom took great joy in serving as an elder in the Santa Barbara Central Spanish Congregation. Born in Mexicali, Tomas was raised in the Central Valley. He graduated from Delano High School in 1975. Then, in 1978, he moved to Santa Barbara which quickly became his home. He often said that he felt he was a Santa Barbara native. With his passing, the world lost a loyal, genuine, gentle man who was known for his ready smile and commitment to friends, family, and all who were part of life's journey. He put other people first and put the feelings and need of others ahead of his own. Tom s was a father figure to adults and children alike. Tom is survived by Ruth, his wife of 33 years; daughter Cheri; mother-in-law Lourie Myers; sisters Emma Dela Cruz, Luz Mar'a Galv n, Lupe Torres; brother Robert Agarano; and numerous nieces and nephews. Beginning July 1998, Tom worked in maintenance and operations for the Santa Barbara Unified School District. In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank under the name Tom. Agarano, Account #1108276856. A memorial service will take place this Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3208 Via Real, Carpinteria, CA 93013.
