Obituary of Nancy Roe

Passed away on September 8, 2012 in Santa Barbara, California. She was born on December 6, 1919 in Auckland, New Zealand to Jack and Emma Hodgson. Nancy grew up in Auckland where she enjoyed sailing and tennis. She graduated from Saint Cuthberts College. During World War II Nancy was an ambulance driver before she joined the Royal New Zealand Navy and became Coxswain of the admirals launch. Nancy married William Howard Roe on December 8, 1946 in Ventura, California. They were married for twenty three years. Nancy and her sister Betty Diedrich were founders of Las Floralias, and she worked for the Santa Barbara Orchid Show. Nancy received many awards for her flower arrangements. Nancy was so loving and giving to everyone. Always stopping to greet neighbors and strangers with a lovely smile and her beautiful New Zealand accent. Her love for flowers showed through her beautiful arrangements and the flowers seemed to look their best just for her. We were all blessed to have her in our lives and she will truly be missed. Nancy is survived by her three sons; Jeffrey, Christopher, and Richard; two daughters-in-law, Linda and Kathy, and six grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her two sisters Betty Diedrich and Joan Reynolds, and by her brother Jeffrey Hodgson. A tree will be planted in memory of Nancy, and donations would be appreciated. A service will be held at Nancy and Diana Fisher's homes at 6884 and 6890 Sabado Tarde Rd., Goleta (Isla Vista) on Saturday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m.
