Obituary of Col. Ray E. Woolridge

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Ray E. Woolridge, age 92 passed Friday evening, June 8, 2012, peacefully. A private memorial service was held by the family with a full military burial, in honor of his service to our country. Ray served our nation as a member of the military and a member of the civil service in his career spanning 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Marie "Fancy" Woolridge. Ray and Dorothy met in September 1944 and married eight months later on May 12, 1945. His intimate family includes two daughters, Patricia W. Andrews and Marsha W. Bender (Rod), 3 grandchildren L. Michelle Sugerman (Erik), Kelly Levy (Matthew), Brooke A. Bender and 3 great grandchildren (Sasha Sugerman age 7, and twins Jack and Nicolas Sugerman age 4). Ray established a lifestyle of integrity, propriety, honor, respectability, brilliance, and an enduring compassion to those in need. Ray enjoyed painting and refurbishing antiques, bird watching, college and pro football, golf and traveling. He will be missed dearly. He was one of a kind. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Santa Barbara Food Bank in honor of Lt. Col. Ray E. Woolridge.
