Obituary of Angelo Ferrario

FERRARIO, Doctor Angelo Age 92, , died peacefully at Santa Barbara Convalescent Hospital on November 12, 2011. He was born December 3, 1918 to Joe and Adelina Ferrario, brother of Sylvia. The family moved from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara right after the earthquake. He graduated from Santa Barbara Junior High in 1933 and Santa Barbara High School in 1936. He then went on to Los Angeles College Chiropractic. In 1936 he met Jeane Ruoff at Santa Barbara State College, at a get acquainted dance at Rockwood. This culminated in their wedding on February 2, 1941 after which he opened his chiropractic office. Six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor he joined the Navy as a Pharmacists Mate, second class, and served in the South Pacific. He was discharged and returned to Santa Barbara in 1943 after surviving Denghi Fever. He ranched until his health came back. Angelo returned to his chiropractic office where he enjoyed being able to help his patients. Three daughters were added to the family Anne, Tina and Cathy. Angelo served as the President of California Chiropractic Association and twice Past Commander of VFW Post 1649. He volunteered for 15 years at the Braille Institute. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and the Manana Dance Club. He helped Seymour Johnson build a quarter scale Hudson Locomotive at the Goleta Valley Rail Road Club. Angelo and Jeane celebrated 70 wonderful years on February 2, 2011 with over 30 members of their immediate family. Predeceased by daughter Anne Marie Hindley and son in law Gene Gumplo. He is survived by his loving wife Jeane, daughters Tina Gustavson, Catherine Gumplo and son in law Joseph Hindley. Angelo had 7 grandchildren Eric (Thom), Tanya, Denise, Lisa (David), Paul (Laura), John, Claire (Greg) and 10 great grandchildren Natasha (John) Brittnie (Justin), Justin, Christopher, Dallas, Sam, Rebecca, Zachary, Brandin, Spencer and a great great granddaughter Kaydince. A funeral mass will be at the Santa Barbara Mission Church at 10:00 am on Tuesday November 22, 2011. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Santa Barbara Visiting Nurses & Hospice Association or the Braille Institute.
