Obituary of Claudia Buck

Died on Oct 29th 2011 in Ventura, Ca. She was born Nov. 21, 1920 in Lavaca, Arkansas, daughter of Walter Honeyman and Mary Boyd. She came to Calif. in 1937, arriving in her grandfathers 1935 ford which he bought by selling his small farm, wagon and mules. They lived at Rincon beach upon arrival. During the war she lived in a tent house in the foothills of Carpentaria, while working at Lockheed in Burbank. She married her husband Virgil in Santa Barbara in 1937. He predeceased her in 1967. Five children survive her. Boyd (Joan) Chico, Curtis (Paulette) Ventura, Nelson, Orville, Garland and Phyllis (Dick) Santa Barbra, a daughter Claudia predeceased her. She also leaves a brother Pete Honeyman of Buellton and a sister Mary Endicott (John) of Sacramento and special friend, Luis Ortiz of Oxnard. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 22 great children and 14 great, great grandchildren. After the death of her husband, she managed an apartment. She loved her elderly tenets and would assist them by shopping and running errands for them. She loved to walk the neighborhood and beaches, usually around 5 miles daily. She spent a great deal of time helping to care for her numerous grandchildren which she adored and in return was deeply loved and respected for the kind and gentle person she was. The last 5 years of her life were spent with family members in Wyo. and So. Dakota. She returned to Ventura where she resided until her death. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. As she requested, there were no services. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
