Obituary of Mark Borden

October 8, 1956 - July 19, 2011 Mark Borden was born in Rockford, Illinois in 1956. He was 54 years old when he passed on July 19, 2011. A sensitive and considerate man, Mark was laid to rest in Rockford, Illinois. He never forgot a family member's birthday and quietly celebrated the lives of others. Mark will certainly be missed. Mark graduated from Rockford College and Loyola School of Dentistry in Chicago. Mark loved being a dentist and was accepted into the prestigious Case Western Reserve University of Dental Medicine in Cleveland Ohio, where only two students were accepted at a time. He practiced dentistry for seven years in Rockford and Bartlett, Illinois. Mark moved to California in 1987 and lived with his brother Jeff in Modesto for a short time. He then moved to the Victoria Hotel in Santa Barbara where he resided for over 17 years.He lived through the year-long renovation of the Victoria Hotel after Peoples' Self-Help Housing purchased it and renovated it in 1999. He was grateful for the help he received from his Peoples' case workers, Al Gentle LCSW and Kristin Tippelt MSW. Mark was always helpful and remembered for his polite and considerate ways, making friends, and building community. Mark is survived by his daughter Sarah and grandson Rome of Rockton, Illinois; his parents Phyllis and George Borden; his brothers Jeff in California, Ron in Arizona, and Jay in Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews. As Mark never forgot his family and friends at special times of the year, we will certainly not forget him.
