Obituary of Jeane E. Ferrario

Age 98, died peacefully at home on June 27, 2015 with her loving daughter Tina and cousin Linda by her side until the end. Beloved by all who knew her, she was the third of four children, born December 4, 1916 to Sarah and Albert Ruoff in Huntington Beach. She graduated from Santa Barbara State College (later U.C. Santa Barbara) in 1938 with a degree in Home Economics. Jeane met the love of her life in 1936 at a Santa Barbara College Get Acquainted Dance. During the broom dance, Jeane cut in on her roommate to get a dance with Angelo, from which they never parted and her family is forever grateful that she was so forward. Jeane and Angelo were married in 1941 and Jeane ran a tight ship, successfully managing both her home and Angelo's chiropractic business, never overlooking even the smallest of details. Jeane and Angelo had three daughters: Anne Hindley (dec'd), Tina Gustavson, and Cathy Gumplo (dec'd) as well as 7 grandchildren, 12 great grand children, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Angelo and Jeane celebrated 70 wonderful years together in 2011 with more than 30 members of their immediate family in attendance. Jeane was a brilliant woman who not only obtained a University degree during the 1930's, but could still fill out the NY Times crossword puzzle correctly in ink everyday well into her late 90's. She was an active member of the Mañana Dance Club, the Holy Cross Church, and the Italian- American Boot Club. She was an avid bowler, talented painter, dressmaker, and created beautiful embroidery. Jeane maintained her droll sense of humour and quick wit until the very end. Well done good and faithful servant, loving mother, grandmother, and cherished friend; you will be missed. Mass of Christian Burial is at Holy Cross Church on July 6th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Braille Institute or Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Time (Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California).
