Obituary of Donald Parsons

Donald Coleman Parsons Sr of Goleta passed away suddenly on March 2 2018 at the age of 83. Don was born Sept. 18 1934 in Baltimore MD to Milton and Eloise Parsons. He met and married Shirley Mae Frederickson in Waukesha WI, upon returning from serving in the United States Army. He spent virtually his entire career employed by General Motors ultimately retiring from Delco Systems Operations in Goleta. Don is survived by his children Lynn Parsons of Portland, OR, Sue (Scott) McBurney of Laurel, MT, and Don (Cathy) Parsons of Goleta, CA, as well as his grand children Malcolm McBurney, Alycen Parsons, Brett McBurney and James Parsons, and brother Linwood Parsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Parsons and daughter Jill Parsons. Don enjoyed his time as a member of the Winchester Gun Club, as part of the group that meets at the Church of Christ on Friday evenings and spent many years as a member of the Sandpiper Men's Club. He loved his children and couldn't have been prouder of his grandchildren and treasured times spent with family and his little dog Bailey. A private gathering of friends and family will be held in Goleta to celebrate Don's life.
