Obituary of Robert Stephen Duley

Robert (Bob) Stephen Duley, from Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 8th, 2023, at his home in Santa Barbara, CA, at the age of 63.

Bob, our dad could light up any room with his loud, joyful and in-charge personality. He could start up a conversation with literally anyone and bring a smile to their face in moments. He had a way about him that put you at ease and made you feel good about yourself. Bob was such a generous man, always out to help others and be of service with his time and money. He loved hosting people at his house for all types of occasions or even just the latest sports game that was on. Bob was a huge sports fan and rooted for his home state, Ohio, teams for all his life.

Bob was a self-made man, one of the hardest workers we know, and he instilled the importance of hard work and giving our best effort, into all of us, his children.  He started working in the Longs Drugs store warehouse in his early twenties and was promoted all the way to Regional District Manager within the company. He then transitioned his focus to real estate investing and property management.

Bob’s greatest accomplishment and pride was in his ability to help others and his family. 

Bob could not sit still for long and was always looking for ways to be of service. He would offer his time in handyman work, financial advice and support, and even as a great listening ear without passing judgment.

He thrived on spending time with his loved ones and you could palpate the joy he felt being around his grandsons. Family was very important to him and he did his very best to be a great father and constant support in our lives. 

He is survived by his mother, Mary Duley, his sister, Pat Garr, his longtime partner, Jackie Girard, his four children, Shivaun Carter, Brendan Duley, Kevin Duley and Colleen Duley, two grandchildren, Jackson and Clayton Carter.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21 at 3:00pm at McDermott-Crockett Mortuary Chapel at 2020 Chapala St. in Santa Barbara. Reception to follow. All are welcome to attend.
