Obituary of Miriam A. Tanenhaus

Miriam A. Tanenhaus, 70, died 11/30/14 at Serenity House after a long battle with cancer. Ms. Tanenhaus moved from the east coast in 1963, settling in Goleta in 1966. She spent her career at Delco Electronics/General Motors working her way up from clerical positions to Computer Aided Engineering. She graduated valedictorian of her SBCC class in 1981, and retired in 1998. Ms. Tanenhaus had an abiding love of animals, particularly birds and orangutans. In retirement, she devoted her time to family and friends, and was especially proud of reestablishing contact with distant family members. Ms. Tanenhaus is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Chandra and Lou Appell, her grandchildren Sydney and Anthony Kessler, and her brother and sister-in-law Dr. Herbert and Rebecca Tanenhaus. Services will be at McDermott-Crockett Mortuary in Santa Barbara on 12/5/14 and in Binghamton, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the SB Humane Society.
