Obituary of Evelyn Lyons

Evelyn Lyons, 98, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 18th, 2014 after a long and happy life. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1916, Evelyn was the youngest of eight children. She married the love of her life, Edward Lyons, in 1941 and had two sons, Hal of Phoenix, Arizona and Steve of Santa Barbara. Their years together in Los Angeles were filled with raising their two sons, maintaining an active building business, and showing their concern for others through their philanthropy. They were active members of Brentwood Country Club as well. Her love of music, golf, bridge, and her family sustained her upon the death of Eddie in 1988. Evelyn moved to Santa Barbara in 2006 where she lived at Maravilla Retirement Community. Evelyn had a quick wit, a lively sense of humor, the gift of gab, and made friends wherever she went. She loved kids, especially her seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Evelyn will be missed by her two sons and their families, Hal and Nanette Lyons and their four adult children Tami, Jessica, and Matthew Lyons and Rebecca and Aaron Pelto, and Steve and Cindy Lyons and their three adult children, Jake, Scott, and Amanda. A special thanks to Yolanda Buzo for her compassionate and constant care of Evelyn for the last few years as well as to Cyndi Silverman for her love and kindness to help Evelyn through her final days. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Tom Prendiville for his assistance and dedication to The Lyons Family. I n lieu of flowers, Evelyn would have appreciated contributions to the local ADL, Tri Counties Anti Defamation League Office located at 1528 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101 or CALM located at 1236 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. Per Evelyn's wishes, there will not be any memorial service. Instead, wear blue one day and think of Evelyn. Arrangements by McDermott-Crockett Mortuary.
