Obituary of Ann M. Hurlburt

Ann Hurlburt, formerly of Santa Barbara, California, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2014 at the age of 91 in Santa Maria, California surrounded by family. Ann was born in Ames, Iowa on March 23, 1923 to Robert and Margaret McCormick where she spent her younger years and attended Iowa State University in Ames majoring in art. She married Bill Hurlburt and had two children, Judy and Blair. The family moved to Pennsylvania, and in 1980, Ann moved to Southern California to be close to her family and lived in Santa Barbara for over 30 years working at Ports of Call in Montecito and Robertson International Travel Consultants, later retiring and living at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club in Carpintaria. In 2010, Ann moved to Cambria, California to live with her son, Blair, and his family and in 2012, moved to an Assisted Living Home in Santa Maria, California. Ann was a very kind and sweet person to her family and to all who knew her. She very much enjoyed traveling with her family on cruises to Europe, the Mediterranean, South America, Mexico, the Panama Canal and Caribbean, and Hawaii. She also loved traveling on trains, especially up and down the Central Coast of California between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo to visit family. Ann is survived by her daughter, Judy Robertson, and son-in-law, Brian Robertson, of Santa Barbara, California; her son, Blair McCormick and daughter-in-law, Shana, and their 2 daughters, Marla and Kylee of Cambria, California; her sister, Mary Siberell and brother-in-law, Stan, of Des Moines, Iowa; and nephews, Richard Siberell and family in Bozeman, Montana and John Siberell and family in Castle Rock, Colorado. She also is pre-deceased or survived by several cousins and other family members. A private family memorial service will be held in Cambria, California.
