Obituary of Margaret L. Siegele

81, died peacefully on June 13, 2014 in Santa Barbara, California. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday June 28, at 10am in the Samarkand Chapel. Margaret was born in Juneau, Alaska on June 26, 1932. The daughter Bruce and Laura Holbrook, Margaret is survived by her son and three daughters and their spouses: Paul and Linda Siegele; Sharon and Tony Amundson; Diane and Jeff Menasco; and Carol and Rick Clinger; as well as her nine grand children: Kendyll, Lauren, Carly, Kevin, Kristen, Jackie, Michael, Taryn and Sarah. She was married to the Reverend Kenneth Siegele for almost 58 years before his passing in 2013. Margaret received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Pacific Lutheran University in 1955. After raising four children, she received a Master's of Science in Education from California Lutheran University in 1991, and worked for a number of years as a Learning Therapist. She was dedicated to a life of service. As a young bride she embraced the duties of a pastor's wife and became a leader for women's and children's ministries; as well as serving for many years on various committees. She especially enjoyed planning and attending women's retreats. Margaret was a devoted wife and mother, and was known for her loving dedication to her children and grandchildren. Her friends will remember her fondly for her warm smile, good humor, and her fashion sense. She was lavish with her generosity for others, and always ready to assist those in need. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret Laura Siegele may be made to the Siegele Family Endowed Scholarship at California Lutheran University, 60 West Olsen Road #1625, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360.
