Obituary of Carmen V. Carreno

Was born May 18, 1943 and passed suddenly on January 30, 2014. Carmen was born in Los Angeles, CA and moved to Santa Barbara as a young girl. Carmen is survived by her brother, Louis Flores of Santa Barbara, her former husband Jose Carreno father of her three children, Joe Carreno Jr. (Anna) Francisco Carreno (Cindy) and Rosalie Carreno McChesney(Todd). Carmen is also survived by her loving partner Jose B. Vargas. In addition, Carmen is also survived by her Grandchildren; Michael Carreno, Joey Carreno, Cecilia Carreno Jones, Luis, Maldonado, Andrew Corral, Cecily McChesney-Andreoni, Daniel Carreno, Benjamin Carreno, along with her 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Carmen, was preceded in death by her Mother Maria Flores, Father, Matel Flores, and brother Earnest Flores. Carmen retired from Cottage Hospital as a Surgical Assistant, and a translator. She also was a volunteer at Cottage Hospital as part of the Raggedy Ann Program. She loved her little dogs, gardening, and her doll collection and was an avid cook. Always entertaining and feeding her family and friends. Carmen is best known for her homemade Tamales. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She was always seeking someone out to help with a variety of needs and issues. Carmen would go out of her way for others and never was one to be in the limelight giving of herself unselfishly. Rosary will be held Thursday Evening at 7:30 PM, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Mass will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A reception in her honor will be held at the Moose Lodge 110 W. Victoria Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities 609 E. Haley St. Santa Barbara.
