Obituary of Mildred D. Sorem Woolsey

Born in London England, Mildred D Sorem- Woolsey came to Ventura, CA as the 22 year old War Bride of Oliver P (Pete) Sorem. During their 48 year marriage celebration, Mildred and Pete raised their two daughters, Barbara K Sorem- Hughlett and Kristine E (Sorem) Lynn, in Ventura. After Pete's passing Aug. 1993, Mildred remarried George C Woolsey and moved to Santa Barbara, CA where they celebrated a 15 year marriage prior to his passing Aug. 2010. During her life in Ventura and Santa Barbara, Mildred participated in Daughters of the British Empire, Dunkirk Chapter; Soroptimist International; Gem and Mineral Society; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and YMCA summer camps (Swimming Director) and various military organizations and dance clubs. She loved to read, sew, knit, garden, wim, walk beaches and travel. Mildred is survived by her aforementioned daughters, grandchildren Scott and Matt Lynn, Brittany Hughlett and great grandsons Bradley and Craig Lynn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mildred?s name to the Alzheimer?s Foundation of America, Arthritis Foundation, American Cancer Society or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Memorial Services will be Fri. 06/28/2013 Noon-2pm at The Elks; 150 N. Kellogg Ave.; Santa Barbara, CA. A light lunch will be served.
