Obituary of Chris A. Martinez

Chris was born at Cottage Hospital on Aug. 10, 1959 to Norma Garcia and Herman Martinez. Weighing over 10lbs. at birth, Chris was "larger than life", and remained that for 53 yrs., until his passing on Sat. Nov. 10, 2012, after a long illness. One of the best cooks on EARTH, Chris' career in the kitchen began at "Jack-in-the-Box" on Milpas with his Step-mom, Betty when he was 16. For the next 30 yrs. he shared his talents with popular restaurants like: Domingo's Cafe, Harry's Plaza, and The Tupelo Junction Care, to name a few. He is preceded in death by his Father & Step-mom, Herman & Betty Martinez. Chris is survived by his wife of 35 yrs., Lisa Vaillancourt Martinez, daughter, Cheyenne; sons: Christopher-CJ (Ivette) , Joseph-JJ and grandson, Cade. Chris also leaves a very large, loving & wonderful family including: Mother and Step-dad, Norma & Thom Lara; sister: Mona Vargas (Luis), Yolanda Garcia (Andrea), Toni Macias (Henry, and Stacey & Stephanie Lara and brothers: Ralph Garcia (Julie), Larry Martinez, Pedro Arispe and Johnny Lara, and many nieces & nephews he loved very much. So many people knew and loved Chris and his cooking. He will be greatly, greatly missed! BE AT PEACE MY LOVE! A service will be held on Sat., Nov. 24th at 11:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a life celebration following at Dolores Center.
